GLOBAL GUNNERS: Arsenal Stars Shine on International Duty as Gyökeres Runs Riot, England Newbie Scores and Dowman Sees Red
Arsenal Stars Turn Heads on International Duty as Gyökeres, Saka and Dowman Make Headlines
What happens when Arsenal’s stars swap the Emirates for the international stage? Goals, records, drama — and even a red card!
The international break may have paused Arsenal’s domestic campaign, but the Gunners have hardly been out of the headlines.
With a huge group of senior and academy players representing their countries, there has been plenty for Arsenal fans to keep an eye on. From Viktor Gyökeres’ incredible scoring run to Bukayo Saka’s two-goal England display, the international stage has provided plenty of talking points.
So, who impressed? Who struggled? And what could all this mean when Arsenal return to club action?
Gyökeres Is Absolutely Flying
Viktor Gyökeres has perhaps been the biggest talking point.
While opportunities have been limited at Arsenal, the Swedish striker has taken his international chances with both hands. He found the net in three consecutive matches for Sweden, continuing a remarkable scoring streak.
And there’s more.
Gyökeres has now scored in six straight Nations League matches, becoming the first player to achieve the feat.
Could this be the confidence boost the Arsenal striker needs?
Saka Sends England Fans Wild
Bukayo Saka also reminded everyone exactly what he can do.
After relatively quiet performances against Spain and the Czech Republic, the Arsenal winger exploded into life against Croatia, scoring twice in England’s emphatic victory.
Was that the perfect response from Saka?
It certainly gave Arsenal supporters another reason to be excited about his return.
Odegaard Keeps Creating
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has continued his impressive creative form for Norway.
Despite Norway producing mixed results, Odegaard registered four assists across their international fixtures.
Could the Arsenal skipper return from the break ready to influence the Premier League once again?
Dowman’s Red Card Steals Attention
Then came Max Dowman.
The teenage Arsenal sensation produced assists for England Under-19s before his international campaign took an unexpected turn.
Dowman was shown a red card against the United States following a challenge, having already endured a physically demanding contest.
He later withdrew from the squad with an injury.
For a player still only 16, what a whirlwind experience.
More Arsenal Stars Make Their Mark
Mikel Merino scored for Spain, while Bruno Guimaraes continued his goalscoring momentum with Brazil. Mylo Bernard also found the net for England Under-17s.
So, after a dramatic international break, one question remains:
Can Arsenal’s returning stars bring that same form, confidence and momentum back to North London?
